34 years ago, a child was born in the house of Senator Caius Honoratus Varinius. This child was destined for great things, although the gods gave no hint at it. There were no omens, no signs of this child's purpose. He was a normal boy, a typical Roman son, even with his Etruscan bloodline.
Over the years he grew, he grew to be... average, he was strong, but not too strong, he was kinda tall... Blackish brown hair, brown eyes, he loved Rome with all his heart. He loved the Republic so much in fact that he joined the military, not an uncommon occurence. But this child was different. He joined during the War. Yes the War with Carthago. This child was destined for great things indeed. The first thing he was destined for was a defeat. As a young Tribunus Laticlavius, his Commander's legion felt defeat in Spain. The shame of that still haunted him after he took the penninsula for his own.
After that he learned his lessons, became a brilliant tactician and strategist, He fought in many engagements, adding honor to his family name. Soon, Rome forgot about his folly in Hispania, but, he did not... ever. Over time, he longed to see Rome again. He missed his father, his home, his people. So, he went home. By now he was a General with two Legions of his own. XXII, and XXIV. He was a soldier's soldier. His home could best be described as Spartan, with the exception of the rose garden he faithfully kept. Even today he can be seen, when he is home, tending those plants with the brutish love they so thrive on.
He married, tried to settle down however, Titus, after a while though, became disillusioned with the whole Roman system. He watched as corrupt Tribunes and Senators took the people for all they were worth, worked for their own benefits, and eventually, when he couldn't stomache anymore, he lashed out. Titus Seneca Varinius, became the avenging hand for the people. He struck at the very heart of Rome, the Senate. His Legions marched into the city, burning down the Forum, striking down the Senators, Chaos ruled for weeks. Then, slowly, he emerged victorious, as Dictator of Rome. With a heavy heart he took this title, rebuilding the Senate, weeding out corruption. Building Rome in the image he saw as perfect. A society without flaws as best hecould. Now the time had come, six months later, for him to choose to take the mantle permanently, or step down. The urge to keep his power was there, as it is in any man, yet Titus marched up to the Senate and bowed his head, asking them to vote him from office. They saw his intent was pure, and well, agreed to do so. However, they also, in their wisdom, stripped him of one of his legions, a punishment he accepted gratefully, as he knew the reason. They wanted to make sure, he could never take Rome again. Now he lives peacefully, with his wife Messalina in the eternal city, longing for combat again, but now, he looks west, to Gallia.
